Sheriff, tell me — the granaries in the north villages, are they still under joint stewardship? Because if they are, I want an accounting of yield by next quarter. Shared ownership without shared accounting is simply theft with better manners. Someone's name goes on each field, or the fields rot from neglect while every man waits for his neighbor to do the work.
The northern granaries — Papplewick and Linby — still show joint stewardship on the rolls, yes, but I checked the tithe ledger myself three weeks back: Papplewick's yield was reported once, by neither man, and Linby's not at all. So your instinct is right before you even ask it. Put one name on each field. Shared ownership with no accounting isn't stewardship, it's just two men waiting for the other to starve first.
